Feb 28, 2010, Marathon to Celebrate Lantern Festival in Hong Kong 2010
Today is the first full moon in the Year of Tiger. It is said that today’s full moon is the biggest and brightest in 53 years. It is the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival on the 15th of January, and many even refer it to be the Chinese Valentine’s Day.
To celebrate the Chinese Valentine’s Day, we have the annual grand sports event Marathon 2010 held here in Hong Kong. Up to 60,000 runners from around the world participated. The first group of runners started as early as 5am. Kenyan runner Cyprian Kiogora Mwobi retains his title, but failed to make a new event record due to the hot and humid weather.

Today, 10 giant pandas are heading to Shanghai as cheer leaders for the 2010 Expo. The pandas were all born in the Ya'an Bifeng Gorge Breeding Base of Sichuan after the deadly Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, 2008. The pandas will go on display in the Shanghai Zoo in the first half of 2010 and on display in the Shanghai Wildlife Zoo in the second half.

Poland’s pavilion in World Expo Shanghai 2010 is a geometrical structure covered with paper-cutting pattern.
It is a winning design entry chosen from 20 candidates in a designing competition.
During daytime, the exhibition hall will be filled with light filtering through paper-cutting patterns. And at night, the pavilion will shine with different colors.
An extending roof of the pavilion will create an open-air restaurant and a shelter to shadow the visitors queuing outside the pavilion.
The exhibition area will be divided into several sections for small expositions, concerts and shops.
Sep 7, 2009, Russia Pavilion - Expo 2010 Shanghai China

Russia will decorate its pavilion for the 2010 World Expo like a fairy-tale world, showing a comfortable city as seen through children's eyes.
The 20-meter towers, in white, red and gold, will duplicate the ancient Ural towns dating back 3,000 years ago, but given a modern touch with their irregular shapes. They demonstrate the diversity of both ancient and modern cities.
A 15-meter-tall central building will link the towers.
The walls of the pavilion will be painted in vivid colors and visitors can enter mushroom-shape houses just like in a fairy tale.
Four of the 12 towers will be accessible to the public, with different Russian regions having showcases. The other towers will be VIP rooms or be closed for technical uses.
The pavilion theme is "New Russia: city and citizen."
Aug 23, 2009, India Pavilion - Expo 2010 Shanghai China

India’s exhibition will be called “Cities of Harmony,” focusing on the integration between urban and rural regions through trade and services. Visitors to the Shanghai Expo pavilion will be led on a journey of Indian cities from the past to the present day.
The dome will be used as a 360-degree screen to tell different stories about life in cities through the ages. It will also be energy efficient with the use of solar panels and wind power.
Herbs will grow on the dome and bamboo will form part of the structure. The pavilion will feature a shopping arcade where people from various regions of India will be demonstrating and selling a wide variety of products. There will also be a food plaza with provide traditional Indian delicacies at the China Expo pavilion.
The main dome structure of the pavilion has been designed to handle an average of 450 visitors every 20 minutes
Aug 1, 2009, Pakistan Pavilion - Expo 2010 Shanghai China

Centered around the Expo theme of "Better City, Better Life," the Pakistan Pavilion will adopt the theme "harmony in diversity." Visitors will experience different features of typical Pakistani cities; as well as experience the life of a typical Pakistani citizen through detailed visual and multimedia presentations.
Traditional Pakistani dances will be performed and a traditional Pakistani restaurant will serve the unique tastes of Pakistani cuisine with BBQ foods, unique sauces and "Chai," a special local milk tea.

The New Zealand Pavilion in World Expo Shanghai 2010 will showcase the balance between city and nature by presenting Maori culture.
The pavilion exhibition will tell a modern variation of the Maori story of how humans were created, in which forests and people are not seen as separate, but as different aspects of the same creative spirit.
The "Kapa Haka" groups, indigenous New Zealand Maori dancing groups, will perform daily in the pavilion.

Australia is investing $83 million in a striking national pavilion, designed to showcase the country’s rich culture, strong economy, innovation and world-class facilities. Visitors to the pavilion will discover how Aussie cities have become global centres of endeavour and excellence and Australia’s ability to respond creatively and effectively to the challenges embodied in the Expo theme, ‘Better City, Better Life’.

The design of the Korea Pavilion is the result of a collaboration between Korean architects and artists. It has been created by using Han-geul letters, the traditional Korean alphabet, and when combined together create the spaces for exhibitions.
The large size of the pavilion allow for a roof garden with views of the Huangpu River and Shanghai’s skyline.
Jul 14, 2009, Japan Pavilion - Expo 2010 Shanghai China

The Vast eco pavilion of Japan will highlight ecological technology at World Expo 2010, and the role technology can play to help humans achieve a more comfortable and confident life.
The pavilion will be divided into past, present and future exhibits, and make use of natural resources with solar energy collection batteries and a double-layer membrane that can filter sunshine, all part of Japan’s vision of how technology can improve our lives.
Visitors will be able to experience some Chinese elements at Japan’s pavilion, which will involve Chinese characters and traditional Chinese architectural styles. The history of Japanese diplomatic envoys visiting China will be part of the exhibit.
Intelligent robots will also be displayed at the pavilion, but there is no more information available for now in order to maintain an element of surprise.

Singapore Pavilion for World Expo Shanghai 2010 is a winning concept - Urban Symphony. It was inspired by the harmony of unique elements in Singapore; progress and sustainability, urbanisation and greenery, tradition and modernity and a cosmopolitan mix of residents living peacefully together.
Singapore Pavilion also shows the contribution of Singapore in the field of city planning, water treatment, and environmental services. The harmony of urban and nature, the creativity and diverse-culture will be the key message that Singapore Pavilion try to deliver.
Jul 8, 2009, Macau Pavilion - Expo 2010 Shanghai China

The Macau Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010 will take the shape of a jade rabbit lantern. The pavilion will be wrapped with a double-layer glass membrane and feature fluorescent screens on its outer walls. Balloons will serve as the head and tail of the ‘rabbit’, which can be moved up and down to attract visitors.
The building will be constructed with recyclable materials and consists of solar power panels and rain collection systems. The design was inspired by rabbit lanterns popular during the mid-autumn festival in south China in ancient times.

Located near Nanhuan Road in Expo Zone B in Pudong, the Hong Kong Pavilion will be built on a stand-alone site and occupy an ideal location close to the China Pavilion and adjacent to the Macau Pavilion. It has an exhibition area of about 800 square metres.
Theme
To tie in with the theme of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China and to highlight Hong Kong's quality city life and our leading position as a creative capital, Hong Kong has adopted the theme of "Hong Kong - A City with Unlimited Potential". The Hong Kong Pavilion will showcase the city's unique connectivity with the Mainland and the world, in terms of both hardware and software.

China Pavilion - features a traditional style red architecture called "oriental crown". It is a winning design from a global search which collected 344 submissions. The structure will adopt ecological sound technologies and energy-saving measures. These include the sun-shading design, exterior of the domestic pavilion is a buffer zone for heat or cold, as well as ecological landscaping on the roof could lower energy demands effectively.
